Bold & Beautiful Emmy Winner Shares the Sweet Story That Matthew Perry Called the ‘Best Thing I Ever Did’

“Oof” is the word with which Jennifer Finnigan began her October 30 Instagram post. And it feels altogether apropos, given that that was how the news of Matthew Perry’s death hit so many of us. But he was more than a favorite actor to Finnigan, he was a real friend.

“Matty P. We were children here,” the Bold & Beautiful alum said, commenting on the picture she shared of the two of them looking altogether baby-faced. “You had come by to visit me and Maeve Quinlan (ex-Megan) while I was doing a photo shoot…

“As you drove to my house, the paparazzi followed you up my driveway. You were so apologetic. Even at the height of your incredible fame and career,” she continued, “you were kind and respectful, had such a good heart, and man, you always made us laugh so damn hard. So many good times.”

Almost two decades later, the match Perry made has stuck.

And they kept right on rolling, too. “And then about a year after this pic, you introduced me to my amazing husband, Jonathan Silverman. Almost 20 years ago now,” Bridget’s former portrayer marveled. “And for that, you will always be a part of our story. We will always be grateful to you. Even though life went by and we didn’t see each other on the regular, every year we would text you on our anniversary and thank you. And you always responded with a ‘Best thing I ever did’ or something of the sort.

“So thanks, Matty. Thanks for making the world laugh, thanks for the wonderful memories, thanks for perhaps one of the most successful introductions of a couple in this crazy town,” she concluded. “Our hearts are heavy. We love you. Keep makin’ em laugh up there.”
